30/10/2011 - David Walliams at centre of telly bidding war David’s got a dilemma – the BBC and ITV both want Walliams to head up their rival talent shows. And whichever way the channel-swim star leaps, it’s bound to cause a kerfuffle. ITV chiefs have offered David millions to make him head judge on Britain’s got Talent, replacing comedian Michael McIntyre. But BBC bosses are also tempting David with a fortune to present new show The Voice – already a US hit – early next year. A source close to the star revealed: “The stations are at loggerheads. David can’t believe it and finds it very flattering. He thinks The Voice is one of the biggest events around the world and being the face of it is tempting. “But David also loves BGT. He has a lot of experience and he knows about quality talent acts.” What might tip the balance for the Little Britain comic, whose co-star Matt Lucas coined the catchprase “want that one”, is the sniping on BGT. Our source said: “David is more tempted by the BBC as Simon Cowell’s shows seem more about infighting than talent these days. The Voice is with the panel turning their backs to judge contestants on their voices alone.” “But David would be head judge on BGT whereas he would just be presenting The Voice,” said the source. “He just has to make a decision.” Singer Jessie J has been signed up for The Voice and Tom Jones and Kylie Minogue have been courted. 27/10/2011 - Walliams injury will take years to heal David Walliams fears the back injury he sustained in a gruelling river swim last month will take years to heal. The Little Britain star swam 140 miles (225 kilometres) along England's River Thames to raise £1m for charity, but he fell ill with a stomach bug during the marathon challenge. Walliams also suffered a problem with his back, and fears the crippling pain will be with him for years to come. He tells The Sun: "I got this thing called giardiasis, which is a waterborne parasite that gave me an upset stomach. "Then I tore a disc in my back because I was in the water for so long. The pressure on your back is intense and the muscles around it went into spasm. I couldn't walk. It was horrible. "I was on Valium, amongst other things, as it's a muscle relaxant so it could help me get over it. It was amazing. I was in a very weird state though. It was horrible being ill. "I've still got a tear in my back so I've got to do Pilates for the next 10 years." Source.
23/10/2011 - David Walliams' new turn as cupid Unlikely couple Jason Orange and Catherine Tate fell for each other after being set up by David Walliams. The Little Britain star has been given the nickname Cilla Black – of Blind Date fame – after persuading a wary Catherine, 43, to date the Take That hunk, 41 According to a pal David, 40, played Cupid at mum-of-one Catherine’s house. The friend revealed: “David was instrumental in bringing Jason and Catherine together. “He introduced them and then persuaded Catherine to do the Take That spoof playing Jason Orange for Comic Relief, which is where they really hit it off. “They were joking that he would be to blame if it goes wrong and have since called him ‘Cilla’.” The friend says the actress needed some persuasion to give Jason a chance – and the pair kept their relationship secret for months. They hit it off in March but “tried to keep their distance” from cameras at the party they held for David’s charity swim earlier this month.
13/10/2011 - David Walliams to appear on 'Chris Moyles' Quiz Night' Ahead of the new series, there will be a one-off special quiz with a star-studded US vs UK line-up as Hollywood comic legend Will Ferrell goes head-to-head with David Walliams and Louis Walsh; with appearances from Robbie Williams, Britney Spears and Paul O'Grady. One Direction deliver the popular maths song. There are new rounds and challenges, while the celebrities show off their general knowledge in order to avoid singing out the show. Source. That's Channel 4 on Sunday 23rd October 2011 at 10pm. But before that, don't forget, David Walliams will be appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show this Saturday night on ITV1 at 9.55pm along with Coldplay, Michael Buble and Seth Rogan.
06/10/2011 - Walliams back to work After a very short break David Walliams has returned to work. Yesterday he filmed his first comedy performance on the Chris Moyles show. This morning, David did his first interview since the Thames swim on the Miranda Hart and Jon Holmes breakfast show on BBC Radio 2.
