30/11/2007 - Matt and David to be on Jonathan Ross Show

Matt and David couldn't make it for tonight's show, instead the two comedians from The Mighty Boosh joined the chat show but Jonathan announced that Matt and David will be on next Friday's show (December 7th) along with Jeremy Clarkson and Renee Zellweger. One not to be missed!

He's a little Brit of an Aussie

Matt Lucas swaps Little Britain for Fountain Lakes as he guest stars in the popular Aussie comedy. But there was no escaping a bit of cross-dressing! The comic was forced to vamp it up as a ‘laydee’ once again in the sixth episode of this eight-part series of Kath and Kim. The episode is on channel Living, this Thursday at 10pm. View source.

28/11/2007 - Matt and David will not be on Jonathan Ross' Show

We recently mentioned both Matt and David would be joining Jonathan on the chat show this Friday for 'Friday Night with Jonathan Ross' but now it appears they will not be on the show according to the BBC online television guide.
Jonathan is joined by comedy duo The Mighty Boosh, chef, writer and broadcaster Hugh Fearnley-Wittingstall and the reformed Boyzone. Plus music from Kate Nash. Thanks to Geraldine for this news!

26/11/2007 - "I am the only gay in the Christian Union"

Dutch comedian, presenter and “Little Britain” fan Paul de Leeuw has launched the campaign “I am the only gay in the CU”. Last night he launched this action against the Dutch political party the “Christen Unie” (“Christian Union”) wearing a T-shirt with the text printed on it. Full story... Thanks to Geraldine for this news!

24/11/2007 - What a Gig!

Yes, I realise this has got nothing to do with Little Britain but thought I should say what a crackin' gig it was last night in London for Mencap's Little Noise Sessions at the Union Chapel, yes... a gig in a chapel! There I was watching the great Biffy Clyro plus a surprise appearance from Bono and The Edge with the event curator, Radio 1s Jo Whiley and a surprising amount of Little Britain fans! Biffy Clyro singer Simon Neil said he had found out only on Friday morning that Bono and The Edge were to perform four tracks, one of which has never been heard by the public before. If anyone has any photos of the event (as I annoyingly didn't take my camera), please let me know, cheers! Right then, I promise no more random articles, for now.

23/11/2007 - Matt & David on Jonathan Ross Show

Next Friday (30th Nov), Matt and David are on the 'Friday Night with Jonathan Ross' chat show.

Exclusive Matt Lucas Interview

Matt is interviewed by 'Female First' about the brand new DVD game, Little Britain Abroad, how the Australian tour went, what it was like starring in Neighbours, the US Series and much, much more... Here is just one question I have been asked many times:

Is it true you are writing a new TV series for HBO in America?

Yes we've actually already written the series for HBO. It's Little Britain but set in America so the British characters will come to America and there are also a load of new American characters. The series is going to premiere in America then will be shown in Britain afterwards. We've had fun trying to make the characters work for an audience that know them and also a new audience that don't. There's a writers strike in America at the moment so our filming has been put on hold until that's been resolved. We support the strike so we accept that situation. We are members of the writer's guild so we feel that is the only option. Read full interview...

Matt Lucas upsets Pete Doherty

Surely Pete Doherty can’t have been too surprised when Little Britain stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams ribbed him in their show.
The rocker, more famous for drug use than music, has nursed a grudge since he went to see the pair with ex-girlfriend Kate Moss.
“When we performed our live show in London, Kate and Pete were there,” explains Matt. “Pete was really charming but I’d obviously upset him because when I go into the audience as Marjorie Dawes from Fat Fighters, I ask for fatties on stage.” Full story... Thanks to Geraldine for this news!

David and Matt say they Never Expected a Hit

Matt Lucas and David Walliams admit that they never expected the sketch show to gain a mainstream following. 'I thought the appeal would be limited to gay men and students,' confesses David, 36. 'I didn't expect it to be that successful.' Instead Little Britain has been a massive hit since it was first screened in 2003 and the pair have profited from a spin-off tour and several lucrative merchandising deals. Full story...

Big Briton

The phenomenal success of Little Britain propelled him into celebrity's top tier, but can he leave behind the catchphrases and gain acceptance in serious roles? Rachel Cooke meets him to discuss life, fame and cross-dressing - and bumps into famous friends Sienna and Rhys into the bargain.
David Walliams lives in Belsize Park in north London and this is where we arrange to meet, though not, alas, at his home (he owns Supernova Heights, Noel Gallagher's old house, and has a plum-coloured, walk-in wardrobe or so I hear). Full interview... Thanks to Geraldine for this!

Rhyd's a Little Brit Special

X Factors Rhydian Roberts was stunned when David Walliams asked for a special audience with him. The Little Britain star had gone along to support pal Dannii Minogue on Saturday night and saw Welsh weirdo Rhydian, 25, belt out his unique version of Westlife’s You Raise Me Up.
A show source said: “David’s a big fan of the show – and particularly of Rhydian. But Rhydian was stunned when David asked to meet him. “You never know, you may find Rhydian meeting Welsh Daffyd in a sketch one day.” Full story...

David was on full Sebastian mode when he was a guest in the X-Factor audience. Dermot (the presenter) popped by to share a special moment with him before the singing continued. David also found time to pick his favourites! “I found Same Difference very moving, it brought a tear to my eye, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing Rhydian”.
This will be repeated coming Friday and Saturday. (David comes directly after the break after Hope sings the Amy Winehouse song “Back to Black”.) Thanks to Geraldine for this!

08/11/2007 - Playing it Straight

David Walliams leaps up out of his chair and gleefully shows me a text he has called up on his mobile phone. It is the message he received from his close friend and fellow comedian Rob Brydon as soon as Walliams had completed his epic cross-Channel swim for Sport Relief last year. The text reads: "You're still fundamentally a bad person." Want to read on? Click here! Thanks to Geraldine for this news!

David Walliams has revealed he pretended to be Wonder Woman as a child. He also admitted he would be a transvestite if he did not already get to wear women’s clothes for the comedy show. While boys often play as male superheroes like Spider-Man, he said: “I embraced my feminine side and wanted to be Wonder Woman in the playground.” Full story...

If Denise Van Outen and Walliams were both still single by 15 January 2008, they would marry each other. 'So, as it stands, we're getting married on that date,' she tells Sunday magazine, 'unless someone else sweeps me off my feet in the meantime.'  Full story...

05/11/2007 - Little Britain "hyped" claims Walliams

David Walliams has admitted the hit comedy Little Britain was "hyped".
Matt Lucas and David Walliams, who signed a reported £6m three-year deal with the BBC, are currently writing a US version of the series. But Walliams said he thought the pair would no longer be as popular in the UK as they have been.
He told the Radio Times magazine: “We’d have been happy to be less successful. “We were hyped, and that means you have an in-built shelf life. “It’s pleasing to be part of the zeitgeist, but worrying because we were overexposed. People see so much of you they want to laugh at something else. Full story...

Lucas 'deflated' by Family Rejection

Matt Lucas still feels "deflated" after his family criticised his comedic talent as a boy. The 33-year-old star of the hit British TV series spent his early years rehearsing comedy routines - much to the irritation of his family. Lucas, who has won countless awards for his work on Little Britain, still feels dejected when he recalls how his family knocked his talent and accused him of showing off. Full story...

01/11/2007 - National Television Awards '07

Little Britain doesn't get most popular comedy programme this year but Matt and David did get to present that category yesterday on ITV1 dressed as Lou & Andy (or should I say Andy & Lou?) Matt and David swapped characters for the evening with Walliams as Andy. Lou (Matt) joked that the pair had got dressed in the dark. Matt and David presented the award to the winner... Catherine Tate! For a full list of winners, click here. For even more info, click here. Thanks to Geraldine for this!
