29/3/2007 - Happy Birthday Elton!

Elton John's 60th Birthday (held at Madison Square Garden) included many guests including, Bill Clinton, Hugh Grant, Daniel Craig and of course, Matt and David. The two comedians were the first to talk about what they thought of Elton, with Matt saying: "five words, he wears glasses and sings". Coverage from the party was on ITV1, today at 9pm. 27/3/2007 - No.1 after 19 years

It only took them 19 years but cult band The Proclaimers finally celebrated a number one single last night.
Their classic 1980s hit (I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles claimed top spot in the British pop charts after their hit was re-vamped in aid of Comic Relief by Peter Kay and Little Britain's Matt Lucas. Full story.

 

26/3/2007 - Lucas Scores No.1

Comedian Matt Lucas has hit the top of the UK charts with a charity version of the Proclaimers’ track I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles). The song sees Lucas, as Little Britain alter ego Andy Pipkin, teaming up with comedian Peter Kay as well as the Proclaimers. View source.
 

22/3/2007 - Little Britain star would love to be Dr Who

Matt Lucas has thrown his hat into the ring to play 'Doctor Who,' his partner Kevin McGee has revealed.
Both current 'Doctor Who' David Tennant and the show's executive producer Russell T Davies have been tight-lipped about who will play the Doctor in the fourth series.
Speaking at the premiere for series three of 'Doctor Who' last night, Kevin said Matt would love to be in the long-running show. Full story.

A gay-to-z of Walliams tunes

The Little Britain comic put his iPod up for sale on eBay to raise money for Comic Relief.
The collection of tunes on his pink iPod Nano is as camp as a Christmas panto. The playlist wouldn’t be out of place at Sir Elton John's 60th birthday celebrations in New York this weekend.
The tracks include Elton himself with I Want Love, Fast Love by George Michael and tracks from Pet Shop Boys, ABBA and Madonna. Full story.

Proud to be gay

They're two of the world's biggest gay icons and together they're doing their best to beat homophobia.
While Sir Elton John today urged people to "shout back" against homophobic abuse, "whether the bigot is in our local pub or a thousand miles away", Little Britain's Daffyd (aka matt Lucas) is preaching the message through his hilarious 'I'm Gay' anthem.

Matt's Shaky breaky heart

Matt Lucas has revealed how ogling pop pin-up Shakin' Stevens helped him realise he was gay.
The homosexual comedian, who married boyfriend Kevin McGee last year, discovered he had an eye for men when only seven.
Now 33, he says it was eyeing a poster of This Ole House singer Shaky in the ’80s that sparked his interest in chaps.

20/3/2007 - Kate & Pete On The Move

Pete Doherty and Kate Moss are looking to move home - and have viewed houses on the road where Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow live, reports The Sun.
Pete and Kate have taken a second look at a house in Belsize Park, North London. Other celebs which live in the area include Little Britain star David Walliams, comedian Chris Evans and singer turned actress Billie Piper. Full story.

 

19/3/2007 - Pipkin's unlikely chart hit

Little Britain's Andy Pipkin and Brian Potter from Phoenix Nights have claimed a spot in the charts with their amusing charity single.
The comedy characters have put their unique take on the Proclaimers classic I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), and it's currently sitting high at number three. Full story.

iPods for eBay Auction

Three iPod nanos are up-for-grabs in a special eBay auction of products donated by UK celebrities in an attempt to help raise cash for good causes in the UK and Africa. The auction closes later this week.
These products include David Walliams' 4GB iPod nano, which is pre-loaded with tracks hand-picked by the star from his personal collection. This iPod now costs £190 at auction. Full story.

 

17/3/2007 - Comic Relief appeal raises £40.2m

Comic Relief has raised more than £40m during an eight-hour TV show which featured sketches starring Tony Blair, Kate Moss and a host of comedians. Full story.
 

16/3/2007 - Comic Relief 2007

The Big One took place tonight from 7pm all the way through to 3am on BBC1 with great entertainment from The Catherine Tate Show starring Tony Blair, Daniel Craig, Noel Edmonds and Neil Tennant, The Vicar of Dibley, Top Gear of the Pops and of course the Little Britain Comic Relief Special (first part shown at 8.30pm)

Later on in the evening, we got to see a very special performance from Brian Potter (Peter Kay) and Andy Pipkin (Matt Lucas) singing '(I am Gonna Be) 500 Miles'.
Matt Lucas, a lifelong Proclaimers fan said: "The Proclaimers are my absolute favourite band of all time. It was a real honour to be allowed to destroy one of their greatest songs." Download here!

The second part to 'Comic Relief does Little Britain Live' with guest stars Kate Moss and Jonathan Ross was shown at 11.35pm. Matt and David were then in the studio with the host Jonathan Ross and Matt announced that this Monday, the special performance shown earlier on the show with Matt Lucas and Peter Kay will be in the shops on CD and DVD.
Due to such high demand of the Brian and Andy song, the video was shown again at 12.25am.
Part 3 of the 'Comic Relief does Little Britain Live' was shown at 12.50am with Anne and Daffyd Thomas.

The hit song sung by Daffyd at the end of the live shows will be available from March 26th for £4.99 and includes not only the 'I'm Gay' feem toon, but also the Little Britain Theme and I'm Gay [Karaoke]. Order here.
 

09/3/2007 - We Want That One!

Matt Lucas and David Walliams will reveal their TV favourites in a new Channel 4 series.
The comic duo will talk viewers through their favourite TV clips and best small-screen moments for Perfect Night In to be shown in April.
The series will also feature Hot Fuzz stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, Paul Daniels, and Rolf Harris with guest appearances from Zammo from Grange Hill, alias actor Lee MacDonald, and former kid’s favourite Gordon the Gopher. View source.

 

08/3/2007 - Lou & Andy in Neighbours

As mentioned in previous news, Matt and David will be making an appearance in Neighbours as Lou and Andy. The episode with Lou and Andy’s cameo will be broadcast in Australia in three months. It will screen over here in about six months time. View source.
 

07/3/2007 - Little Britain climb music charts

Little Britain this week makes its first appearance on the Australian Music Charts. Matt and David have climbed the television ratings, they have climbed the DVD charts with the release of the first three series, and have wowed Australian audiences with their recent tour. Now, this week they have made their presence felt on the Australian music charts.
Little Britain’s debut single I’m Gay (Little Britain Theme) debuted at Number 36 on the Physical Singles Chart. I’m Gay (Little Britain Theme) is now in stores, distributed by Shock Records. View source.

 

04/3/2007 - Kate's tracksuit up for grabs

Vicky Pollard would never be able to afford it - but the tracksuit worn by Kate Moss for her Little Britain appearance is going on sale on eBay.
Moss, 33, wore the top when she appeared as Pollard's twin sister in the charity gala last year. It is signed by the supermodel with the words "love Kate Moss" and a drawing of a heart. The sale is to raise money for the fight against poverty in the UK and Africa. Full story.

 

03/3/2007 - Matt & David to appear in 'Neighbours'

The Aussie soap's official website has confirmed that the comics will appear as their characters Lou and Andy in a special scene. Their appearance will be screened in Australia in three months time, but UK viewers will have to wait until September.
Actors Ryan Moloney (Toadie Rebecchi), Carla Bonner (Steph Hoyland), and Nicky Whelan (Pepper Steiger) feature in the scene, which takes place in the show's Scarlet Bar, but producers are keeping tight-lipped about further details until closer to the time of broadcast. View source.

 

02/3/2007 - Matt & David on GMTV

Matt and David were interviewed live from Perth at 8.35am on GMTV Today. They had a chat about the Comic Relief DVD and the Australian tour which was originally just 12 dates but ended up being 32 dates. They also mentioned that a next series of Little Britain is on ice at the moment. David points out "not literally on ice like Disney on ice! But our next stage is doing a show in America for HBO which will be like Little Britain with the characters".
