January 2007

31/1/2007 - Matt & David meet Neighbours

Matt and David were both welcomed in Melbourne during the tour in Australia by some of the cast from Neighbours.
The boys have added some local gags to their sketches and there were huge cheers from the audience when Matt Lucas' character Vicky Pollard mentioned that she had been on a tour to Ramsay Street hoping to meet Ned Parker.

Happily the gang found plenty to chat about and the evening ended with an open invitation to Matt and David to come and visit the set when they're back in Melbourne. There was even talk of a possible cameo appearance if schedules allow. Now that really would cause a kerfuffle in Erinsborough. Full story.

Not happy Fans

For the fans that have written to Matt and David's agents "Troika", unfortunately might not receive an autograph or a reply to the letter and so fans may have to write again.
One fan of the show wrote to Troika to find out what happened with the letter and they replied that some fan mail got lost but looking into it further, the letters didn't and this is a disappointment to many fans with the same problem.
From contacting Troika, the people who are responsible for the autographed photos have said that they haven't signed any and they couldn't reply to the great amount of letters anymore.
But good news, the agents have now made a list with the addresses of the fans who have been waiting for autographs since autumn last year and will hopefully get autographs sent out to everyone that wrote to them.

26/1/2007 - Little Brit's Kath & Kim cameo

Americans may be bracing themselves for those foxymorons from Fountain Lakes, but Little Britain star Matt Lucas leaped at the chance to get up close and personal with Kath & Kim this week, recording a surprise cameo for a new series of the hit Aussie show.
Lucas, who is holidaying in Australia with husband Kevin McGee ahead of the Little Britain stage show tour starting in Melbourne next week, filmed the guest role alongside Gina Riley and Jane Turner this week - believed to be playing an estranged English cousin of Australia's own desperate housewives.
Sydney fans of Lucas and his Little Britain co-star David Walliams will get their first glimpse of the UK comedians at a Sydney Mardi Gras launch event next Saturday. Full story.

24/1/2007 - Little Britain Live Review

I am in the heart of London's Little Australia, watching the Little Britain stage show in a theatre full of little British people (and some big ones). I'm sitting with my British little brother, who is excited we have tickets to the sell-out show. He is a fan and I'm hoping he can explain Little Britain's appeal to me. Full review.

Star is Pete Dough-erty

Pete Doherty hands over a wad of cash as a mystery package is delivered to him at lover Kate Moss’s birthday bash.
The Babyshambles singer, 27, gave the delivery driver around £200, grabbed the package and ran back into the party at Little Farringdon, Oxfordshire. Kate, 33, hosted the bash at her £2million mansion on Saturday night. Guests included celeb pals Sadie Frost and Little Britain’s David Walliams. View source.

19/1/2007 - Now he'll be the only gay in the conservation area

Matt Lucas and David Walliams' use of Llanddewi-Brefi as the place where rubber-clad Dafydd is "the only gay in the village" in the BBC series Little Britain has led the council to announce that it should become a conservation area - so increasing the potential to generate tourism revenue.

...Any move to generate more tourist trade is good news for Glesni and Neil Driver, who run the whitewashed Siop Bresni - the only store in the village - and have a nice trade in £12.99 polo shirts bearing the village name. "Any assistance to bring more people through helps," Mrs Driver said yesterday, as the winter storms kept visitors away. "It is a wonderful part of the world, though there's not a lot of work out here except for farming."

For those seeking a less subtle keepsake, there is a £10.99 T-shirt emblazoned with the words, "Nid Dafydd yw'r unig hoyw yn Llanddewi-Brefi" (Dafydd isn't the only gay in Llanddewi-Brefi). Novelty maps, made with sheep droppings gathered from the slopes of the Snowdonia National Park, are also selling well at £15.99, while those in search of something more weighty have taken the law into their own hands: six of the village's signposts were stolen last year and some ended up on eBay... 15/1/2007 - What a Walli

David Walliams, 35, left London's Cuckoo Club hand-in-hand with showbiz pal Vernon Kay.
Vern's wife Tess Daly has nothing to worry about though, as David only had eyes for ladies at the club.
We're told: "David was trying it on with every woman in sight. His best chat-up line was, 'This is my mate, Vernon.'"
Well, we suppose it beats "Do you come here often?" Full story.

10/1/2007 - David signs up legendary comic

David Walliams is apparently set to be one half of a surprising new comedy double act - with Ronnie Corbett.
The Little Britain star has signed up comic legend Ronnie for his next project, the Daily Star reports.
David will co-star in the series about a rest home and Ronnie, 76, will play an ageing lothario. Rob Brydon will play David's brother in the show.
Ronnie, famous for being half of The Two Ronnies alongside Ronnie Barker, is quoted as saying: "My character is a real old charmer who is in his element being the only man in the place.
"David and Rob were kind enough to come up with the idea and I'm really looking forward to working on it."
The TV veteran also admitted he'd turned down a role in Little Britain.
"They asked me to take part in the last series as Roman Devere, ex-husband of Bubbles," he said.
"It was very sweet of them but I had to tell them that, at my age, rolling around in a sauna with a fat, naked lady was going a little too far." View Source.

09/1/2007 - It's all in the cards

Britain's biggest greetings card chain delivered upbeat Christmas results yesterday.
Clinton Cards saw sales rise 2.1 per cent in the five-week festive period, despite a drop in demand for gifts.
The Little Britain craze - including comedy mugs and key-rings - proved to be a big Christmas hit for the group's gift business in 2005. But it failed to find anything quite so hot this time round. Results were boosted by card sales, up by five per cent. View source.

BBC moves to file-sharing sites

Hundreds of episodes of BBC programmes will be made available on a file-sharing network for the first time, the corporation has announced.
The move follows a deal between the commercial arm of the organisation, BBC Worldwide, and technology firm Azureus.
The agreement means that users of Azureus' Zudeo software in the US can download titles such as Little Britain.
Until now, most BBC programmes found on peer-to-peer file-sharing networks have been illegal copies.
Azureus is best known for developing a BitTorrent client, or program, that allows large media files to be easily shared over the internet. The program has been downloaded more than 130 million times.
File-sharing is often associated with illegal distribution of copyrighted content. But in recent months a number of networks have tried to shake off this old image.
BitTorrent, the company behind the original file-sharing software of the same name, has recently signed a number of deals with content providers, such as 20th Century Fox, in a bid to become a legitimate download service. Full story.
