27/2/2007 - Big Screens for Little Britain?

The BBC’s popular sketch show Little Britain, starring comedian Matt Lucas, has become the subject of a fierce bidding war in Hollywood, with execs keen to snap up the big screen rights.
Last autumn, Lucas and his screen partner David Walliams spoke of their film plans, but since the success of fellow Jewish Brit Sacha Baron Cohen with Borat, producers are looking for the next big British smash. And they think Lucas and Walliams have it. Full story.

25/2/2007 - Candice and David tread water in a sea of love

David Walliams and ironwoman Candice Falzon went to extraordinary lengths to share an intimate moment off Bronte.
The athlete and the British comedian, a keen ocean swimmer, arrived at Bronte Beach at midday on Friday - he in his briefs, she in a frilly bikini - and set off together on a one-hour swim from Bronte to Bondi.
The pair might have made better time had they not stopped for a 15-minute kiss, executed while treading water some 400 metres off Tamarama. Full story.

24/2/2007 - Little Britain Video Game Review

"Britain, Britain, Britain!... Land of technological achievement! We've had running water for over ten years, an underground tunnel that links us to Peru and we invented the cat!" What they don't tell you, of course, is that Britain is responsible for what is possibly the worst licensed game in the history of mankind. Full review.

Britvic's J2O teamed up with Little Britain tour

Britvic's J2O teamed up with Little Britain duo Matt Lucas and David Walliams to promote the comedy act's first live tour. The campaign, through Inferno, used promotions in bars and pubs, a website and taxi and ambient advertising to build awareness of the tour and drive on-trade sales. 'The strength of this tie lays in the popularity of the Little Britain brand,' says Kate Emery, director of Inferno. 'J2O leveraged this at point-of-purchase and beyond.' The work helped the tour sell out and, based on the media used and the show's audience, Inferno estimates the partnership reached more than 750,000 people. View source.

Little Britain takes over Brisbane

They've been performing the same show, night after night, since October 2005. But seeing David Walliams and Matt Lucas on stage in Brisbane this week, you wouldn't know it. They were as enthusiastic as ever, thrilling fans with their two-hour stage show.
Many in the audience seemed to have watched the Little Britain Live DVD - even one relatively recent fan (who was introduced to the show only eight months ago) admitted to watching the DVD - but most people agreed the show was much better. "It was way better than the DVD!" enthused one fan. "If you watch the DVD, this is 10 times funnier, because they just stuff up and it’s just funny watching their facial expressions when they stuff up. It’s just comedy at it’s best – brilliant!" Full review.

Here is another review of the video game by Computeractive.co.uk who say the game is... rubbish.

Little Britain ruled out Brisbane Convention Centre

Little Britain ruled at the Brisbane Convention Centre last night and what an outrageous kingdom Matt Lucas and David Walliams have created.
Bad teeth, frightful wigs, beer guts, vomiting pensioners, twitty blokes in frocks – it's lala land and the funny thing is everyone's lining up for a passport.
British comedians Lucas and Walliams have sold out five of their six Brisbane shows, and last night's packed house of fans would have laughed if the comedians simply stood up and read the phone book. Full review.

A Great Briton

Little Britain star David Walliams inspired a schoolgirl from Fontmell Magna to win a national contest exploring what it means to be British.
Lucy Gill, 14, a year 10 pupil at Shaftesbury School, has won the 14 to 16-year-old category of the Morgan Stanley Great Britons 2006 competition with a poster designed around the comic's epic swim across the English Channel last year.
She said: "I chose David Walliams because I thought what he did was really good and I was a fan of Little Britain and had been to see the live show. He was the one that meant the most to me."
Lucy and her classmates were asked by their teacher to design a poster on their Great Briton' and to come up with a 50-word statement about What it means to be British'.
Once they had completed their work each of them got the chance to vote for the ones they felt were the best and should go forward to the national competition. Full story.

Top 50 Catchphrases

Little Britain scooped four catchphrases in the top 20 of all time:

2. Vicky Pollards "Yeah but no but yeah".
6. "I'm a laydee" quoted by tranny Emily Howard.
12. Welshman Daffyd's "I'm the only gay in the village".
14. Wheelchair-bound Andy's "I wan' that wun" at number 14.
See all top 50 catchphrases.

Listen to the new single 'I'm Gay' by Daffyd

That's right, it's Daffyd - in all his body-hugging, red latex glory. Listen here.

14/2/2007 - Little Brit, lot of charm

David Walliams' Sydney playboy parade is becoming almost as outrageous as one of his Little Britain skits.
Ironwoman - or is that beach babe? - Candice Falzon this week became the fourth local "laydee'' to fall victim to Walliams' killer charms.
While she is usually more of a sports supporter than a comedy cohort, Falzon was grinning from ear to ear when Walliams picked her up from the entrance of the Hilton hotel on Monday night.
But the single glamour girl said nothing funny was going on when Confidential called to get in on the joke yesterday.
"There's no relationship, but I'm not going to comment about it any further,'' she said. Full story.

The Brit Awards 2007

Tony Head announced the 'Best British Group' at this year's Brit Awards at Earls Court, London. Tom Baker was reading out all the nominations for tonight's show.

12/2/2007 - Little Britain Video Game Review: Part 2

Well it's been just over a week since my last review on the video game and I was hoping to make this review better and give a nicer result rather than the 5/10 I gave the other week but unfortunatly, I now have to give this 4/10 Click here for my full review.

11/2/2007 - Scene and Heard

Thumbs up to the boys from Little Britain who also had fans in raptures during the week. Their slapstick British humour, teamed with hilarious costumes and offbeat adlibbing, made for a brilliant performance at the Hordern Pavilion. When chatting to Matt and David before their Sydney shows, it was interesting to see how sweet and low-key they were in real life, particularly Lucas. He said the immense wealth created by Little Britain hadn't changed him. "To be honest with you, we still still in each other's kitchens and try and make each other laugh," he said. "The kitchens get a little bit bigger, but that's about it." Walliams, who has a reputation as a ladies' man, admitted giving away his entire collection of Little Britain plush dolls to an eager fan - Elton John. Source: Sun Herald.

10/2/2007 - A yeh but, no but, winner

Outrages Little Britain is the comedy taking not just England but the world by storm. And Adelaide gave it a standing ovation last night.
David Walliams and Matt Lucas, the duo who are worshipped by many, have managed to prove Australia-wide just how popular they really are, with sold out shows across the country.
It's a rather hard thing to fathom considering it's a show based on "men dressing up as women and acting gay".
The TV series which depicts and picks on the disabled, obese, poor, gay, races other than white and the elderly – among other things – should be considered cruel but, judging by the success of the show and the way that Walliams and Lucas portray the many characters, society is willing to laugh not only at others but themselves as well.
Amazingly, the hilarious English duo managed to make an extremely smooth transition for their Little Britain Live tour with an elaborate set and more costume changes than you could poke a stick at. Full story.

08/2/2007 - Dave makes waves after strip

Here's TV joker David Walliams on holiday in Australia – and his trunks certainly seem to be, er, well packed.
My snapper spotted the Little Britain funny man getting out of a car with on-off girlfriend Emily Scott while the pair enjoyed a break in Sydney.
He appeared to be in such a rush to hit the sands at Bondi Beach that he was busy unzipping just moments after parking up. Full story.

Walliams loves his lay-dees

One minute he's split from Australia's sexiest pin-up girl, the next he offered to comfort a lovelorn Kylie Minogue.
But it seems Little Britain's David Walliams just can't get enough of our local "lay-dees,'' snogging a waitress at Billy Crystal's after-party on Tuesday night. Full story.

Little Britain's war on PC

The Little Britain chaps might be winning their war on political correctness but not everyone's willing to give in.
Matt Lucas and David Walliams have enlisted characters Vicky Pollard, Lou and Andy and Daffyd for their stage-show blitz on Australia.
The tour of duty's been popular enough to attract a $2.5 million investment ($250,000 of which went to wigs). Full story.

07/2/2007 - Little Brit's dummy spit

Little Britain comic David Walliams lashed out at paparazzi in Sydney yesterday moments before reuniting with former flame Emily Scott.
The zany funny man slipped silently into a crowd gathered at Australia Square to watch Scott be crowned FHM's Sexiest Aussie Babe - but exploded when spotted by snappers.
Walliams lunged at one photographer, screaming abuse and trying to knock his camera to the ground, before fleeing through the food court.
Meanwhile Scott, oblivious to any drama, was basking in the glow of the flash-bulbs, glamming it up for the cameras and admiring fans.
She was soon brought up to speed though when Walliams reappeared after the event and whisked her off to lunch at The Summit restaurant. Full story.

‘Little Britain’ comes to Australia

They're rude, crude and leave their fans in stitches with characters that lean heavily towards the grotesque. Matt Lucas and David Walliams are otherwise known to their adoring Australian audiences as Little Britain. With a successful TV comedy series already to their credit, the pair have now brought their live show to Australia. Full report.

05/2/2007 - David offers Kylie his support

It seems Little Britain comic David Walliams has offered Kylie Minogue his support after her split with Olivier Martinez.
The pair have become close pals over the past year and David has said he will be there for the petite Aussie star.
Speaking at the opening of the Mardi Gras festival in Sydney with comedy partner Matt Lucas, the funnyman told The Sun: "She's gorgeous and I hope she is doing OK.
"I don't know what went wrong with Olivier but I do know that she deserves happiness and loyalty. She's got my number if she wants to get together for a laugh." View source.

Another Mardi Gras Video

Here is another video clip of Matt and David launching the Mardi Gras. The televised video clip is on the previous news story.

04/2/2007 - Video Exclusive!

Little Britain stars launch the Mardi Gras. Watch here.

The stars from the hit TV comedy Little Britain have helped kick off Sydney's Mardi Gras festival.
It was their alter-egos, Daffyd Thomas and Emily Howard who cut the ribbon, launching the month-long event.
The launch was a bit tough on Daffyd Thomas, whose catchphrase on the show is 'I'm the only gay in the village.'
But Matt Lucas, who plays Thomas, remained in character, declaring 'Hang on a minute, you mean you're all gay? No, no I don't believe you. You're not gay, I'm the gay - you're probably just a little bit poofy.' View source.

Little Britain star in Manly ocean swim

The 35-year-old Englishman has taken time out from a hectic Australian leg of the Little Britain tour to indulge in one of his favoured pastimes, ocean swimming.
Walliams, who conquered the English channel for charity last July, today joined 2000 enthusiasts for the2km Cole Classic ocean swim on Sydney's north side.
Despite his impressive pedigree – “in Britain there's nowhere nice to swim, so I decided to swim to another country” – Walliams, also known to audiences as the less-than-convincing transvestite Emily Howard, wasn't too confident.
It seems he was being modest – a speedo-clad Walliams emerged from the sparkling water with a time of just under 30 minutes, well ahead of most in the 30-34 age group in which he had been wrongly entered. Full story.

David came in 25th place out of 198. See all results here.

Classic goes swimmingly for comic star

Here's a theory as to why Little Britain's David Walliams is into ocean swimming: only when his ears are under water does the visiting English comic get a moment's respite from people endlessly quoting his own lines back at him.
Audiences are seeing even more of Walliams in the Little Britain stage show, which runs in Sydney until Valentine's Day. It has raised eyebrows that many of the audience members are children, even though the stage show is more risque than the TV series.
The same happened in Britain. There the Radio Times estimated Little Britain had 280,000 viewers aged 10 to 15 in its homeland. Another survey found it was second only to The Simpsons in popularity with children. Full story.

03/2/2007 - Funny little Brits attract Edna, Kath, Kim and their Neighbours

Little Britain has never been bigger in Australia, with the stars of the TV series, Matt Lucas and David Walliams, in Sydney for a series of live stadium shows.

02/2/2007 - 1st Video Game Review

Received my PS2 video game this morning and have been testing it out for a couple of hours. I would have to give this game 5/10 for a number of reasons: firstly, the graphics are not as good as they could be. Even though they are in 3D, the graphics are no where near as good as some games you now see on the PS2. Secondly, the first game you play when you start up the game is Vicky Pollard racing through the park collecting CDs. This is not easy to control and is a very difficult challenge to get to the next stage (even in easy mode) but if you don't get past this stage, you won't get any further into the game. If you want to exit the game, you have the choice of yes or no... but for some reason, you can't click yes (I want to exit). It is always no so you end up back on the game until the timer runs out. Finally, if you have the PS2 version of the game, make sure you have a memory card or you will find yourself back at the start when you play the game again!
I will practice with this game a bit more and see if I can extend this review. If you have played this game, we would very much like to read your review with your mark out of ten. You can send them via email to be posted here.

Walliams woos Model

David Walliams has set his sights on Nova 100 promotions girl Rosie Gregory. Walliams has sent Gregory some pretty forward text messages, getting her number via his publicist after the station did some recording with the funnymen.
He sent her four tickets to his stage show last night and was keen to catch up for a drink afterwards. He split with Aussie model Emily Scott last year. View source.
