31/8/2007 - Lucas and Fry to say 'This Is Your Life' to Radio 4

A special radio comedy edition of This Is Your Life will see the likes of Stephen Fry and Matt Lucas pay tribute to Radio 4.
Fry will narrate the show, which is to be performed in front of a live audience at Broadcasting House's Radio Theatre. Lucas will 'play' Radio 4, alongside appearances from guest stars including John Humphrys, Sue Lawley, Jonathan Dimbleby, Barry Cryer, Martin Jarvis and Rabbi Lionel Blue. The station is 40-years-old at the end of September, and the special programme will take a humorous look at its history.

Lisa is David's Next Top Model

29/8/2007 - Walliams and Snowden keen to Reunite

David Walliams and Lisa Snowdon are keen to work together as a TV duo again after a recent stint guest-hosting Richard & Judy last week. The co-hosts admitted they would love to repeat the experience.
Little Britain star David told heat magazine, “If someone was kind enough to ask us to do it again, I’d love to." Full story.

 

28/8/2007 - BB's Gerry leers at Dermot O'Leary

Camp Big Brother evictee Gerry has made a play for hunky host Dermot O’Leary. And Gerry even tried to flirt with Little Britain funnyman David Walliams on television yesterday. David - who was standing in on the Richard and Judy show - offered Gerry a place to stay after his BB eviction.
And Gerry said: “I would love to stay with you. I can try to convert you - there is always hope!”.
But shocked Walliams said: “Can we get on with the interview please?” Full story.

27/8/2007 - Matt & Mutt Lucas see Gunners

Matt Lucas shows his dogged devotion to Arsenal — by taking his labrador pup to Emirates Stadium.
Little Britain stars Lucas, 33, and David Walliams, 36, saw the 1-0 win over Man City in North London. The pup wanted to see Terrier Henry — but he left for Bark-alona in June. View source.

24/8/2007 - TV pair celebrate theatre funding

Matt Lucas and David Walliams have been celebrating a Lottery grant for the organisation which first brought them together.
David Walliams said: "Both Matt and I owe a debt of gratitude to the National Youth Theatre - that's where we met."
His Little Britain co-star Matt Lucas said: "It was thanks to the National Youth Theatre that I developed my own love of acting - it gave me heaps of confidence and a belief in myself and my abilities. Full story.

 

23/8/2007 - Vicky Pollard coming to America

Among the characters being imported for Matt Lucas and David Walliams' American version of Little Britain, which will run on HBO, are Vicky Pollard, Daffyd (the only gay in the village), Lou and Andy, and Marjorie Dawes.
Said Lucas: "We’re mixing it up. We’re writing six new American characters and the rest will be old favourites. How could we not take Vicky and especially Marjorie to America? I would like to say that we’re going to be kind about the Americans, but can you really imagine us being nice? No, I didn’t think so!"

20/8/2007 - Happy Birthday David (36)!

And many thanks to all the recent posts in the Guestbook! Don't forget, you can catch David tonight on Channel 4 from 5pm hosting the Richard & Judy show along with Lisa Snowdon.
Matt Lucas joined David and Lisa for the last fifteen minutes of the show bringing in a half eaten Birthday cake for David followed by a present - a DVD of 'The Wind in the Willows' and Matt told us a little about the American version of Little Britain. Matt said it will be available not only on HBO but also the BBC and they will start filming in January 08 and will be on TV this time next year. At the end of the show, the cameraman brought in a 'real' Birthday cake of the English Channel with Walliams swimming in the cake!

Walliams to write young adult book

David Walliams is "in the final stages" of an auction for his first young adult book, with bids thought to have reached £320,000 for a two-book contract.
Walliams' showbiz agent, Paul Stevens at ICM, said the auction has been whittled down to two publishers - one of which is understood to be HarperCollins. Walliams has already launched two books of ­ "Little Britain" scripts with HarperCollins, and a behind-the-scenes look at touring with the show, Inside Little Britain, for Ebury. The latter title sold more than 55,000 copies in both editions. View source.

 

17/8/2007 - David and Lisa to replace Richard and Judy

David Walliams is stepping into Richard Madeley's shoes on Channel 4 show Richard And Judy. Lisa Snowdon, who David is said to have dated three years ago, is holding the fort for Judy Finnigan. The pair will present the show while Richard and Judy attend music mogul Tony Wilson's funeral in Manchester.
David joked: "I'm absolutely thrilled to be asked to be the new Richard Madeley. If all goes well, I will swap roles with Richard: taking over the show full time and moving in with Judy!" The pair will host the show on Monday at 5pm.

Walliams: De Niro thrill

David Walliams may be best known for playing transvestites and bumbling carer Lou in Little Britain, but nowadays he’s appearing alongside stars like Robert De Niro in big Hollywood movies, such as new fantasy movie Stardust.
"I’m in the film," he said at the LA premiere on the Paramount lot. "I play a ghost but half of my face is scalded so you can’t really see it’s me. "The film is a big sort of epic like Lord of The Rings and Pirates of The Caribbean, but with a sort of British flavour," he added. Full story.

14/8/2007 - Walliams wants date with BB's Charley

David Walliams has asked Charley Uchea to go on a date with him.
The comedian developed a crush on Charley when he tuned in to watch the Channel 4 reality show, and got in touch with the self-styled south-east London It Girl when she was evicted from the house.
"But I don't know if he'll be able to impress her with his jokes. We all know it's hard to get a word in once Charley gets going." Full story.

 

13/8/2007 - I'm the only gay left in Poland

I’M not sure how my gay-o-meter will handle this — DAVID WALLIAMS has become a gay icon in Poland. Apparently gays there are packing their manbags for Britain, inspired by their new hero from Little Britain. The comedy was finally screened for the first time in Poland in April.
Characters including MATT LUCAS’s Dafydd Thomas and, in particular, David’s Prime Minister-adoring Sebastian Love, have been a hit with Polish gays. Full story.

08/8/2007 - David on Radio 2 Show

David was on Russell Brand's BBC Radio 2 show last Saturday (4th) and you can download the podcast to find out what happened. Noel Gallagher and the voice of Zippy was also in the studio. Thanks to Stefanie for this news!

Singer, Kate Nash has hit back at critics who've compared her to Vicky Pollard. Although the singer, 20, admits to being 'a bit of a chav', she hates being compared to the trackie-wearing comedy creation. Full story.

The stars come out for Barbara Windsor's 70th Birthday Bash

Matt and David as well as many other special guests attended Eastenders star's 70th Birthday. We're told: "There was lots of booze, lots of dancing and lots of debauchery." Sounds like a soap plot. Full story and photos. Thanks to Geraldine for this news!

02/8/2007 - 10 New Characters from Matt and David

Matt Lucas and David Walliams are creating up to ten new characters for the American version of their hit show. The lads have gone down a storm in the States and are now writing the series for HBO. We caught up with delighted Matt, who revealed the duo had been having a field day coming up with wacky new characters. He said: “They range from the nice to the really gruesome — and we’re having a ball inventing them.”
But he remained tight-lipped about exactly what they would be. Full story.

01/8/2007 - Walliams attends Movie Premier: Stardust

British stars including David Walliams, Jason Flemyng and Vinnie Jones took a turn on the red carpet for the LA premiere of director Matthew Vaughan's brand new fantasy movie Stardust which will be in cinemas from August 10th. The Brits - including Take That's Gary Barlow and Mark Owen - mingled with the likes of Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Claire Danes, who all star in the fairytale film. See photos.
