27/04/2011 - Matt Lucas tells all... The kings of comedy are back and poised to send us into fits of laughter. Little Britain's Matt Lucas and David Walliams are spreading their comedic wings in new airport-based mockumentary series Come Fly With Me in which they play all the major characters. Matt gives TV WEEK his thoughts on... ...WHY THEY WANTED TO GET AWAY FROM LITTLE BRITAIN "We did a series on US cable network HBO [Little Britain USA], and they wanted us to make more, but we just felt you should stop doing the show before people want you to stop doing the show. It was time to come up with something else." ...THE COMPLICATIONS OF FILMING AT A REAL AIRPORT "There were these two people whose job it was to come into the make-up wagon and check on us every 20 minutes, because when you have prosthetics on, you look completely different to your passport photo, so they had to be there to authenticate the fact that it was us." ...USING TOILETS DRESSED AS A WOMAN "You always have a moment of going, 'Well, should I go into the ladies' or the gentlemen's?' So you have to walk into the gents' toilets saying, 'Nobody panic! I'm a man - I'm a man! I know I'm wearing a dress, but I'm a man!'" ...DRIVING AN AIRPORT BUGGY AS GROUND CREW MEMBER TAAJ MANZOOR "I had to drive a buggy on camera, while delivering a monologue in an accent, without any glasses and with real people there. And I can't drive - I've never had a driving lesson. Fortunately, there were only three fatalities." Come Fly With Me airs early May on Channel Nine.

21/04/2011 - David Walliams' Awfully Good Movie Moments 'The Appalling Accents' category features Dick Van Dyke and Audrey Hepburn launching a brutal assault on the English language whilst Nicolas Cage commits crimes against the Italian language in Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Imitating Demi Moore at a pottery wheel, David introduces Rules for Romance Movies taking examples of how not to do it from Twilight, Hope Floats and Jennifer Lopez luring a lover in Gigli - It's turkey time. Gobble, gobble. 'Apparently once you're a really successful actor you don't have to bother anymore' explains David; enter the Atrocious Acting field including John Travolta's alien performance from planet unconvinceon in Battlefield Earth and Jude Law's somewhat overacting in Sleuth. Hollywood's biggest budget balls-ups often originate in the special effects department and there is many an example in the Naff FX category, Kurt Russell 'surfing' in Escape from LA to name one. From between the sheets David narrates the most Ghastly Sex scenes to ever grace our screens. Elizabeth Berkley's energetic performance in Showgirls is almost as disturbing as Chucky getting it on with his new bride. Dressed as the stereotypical villain complete with blond wig and European accent David reveals his Top 5 Most Unconvincing Villains including X-Men's Toad and Arnold Schwarzenegger's Freeze in Batman and Robin. He also shares his Top 5 Arnie Puns, Top 11 Worst Movie Lines ('You complete me' Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire), Top 5 Most Baffling Movie Monsters, Top 5 Annoying Movie Characters (including Jim Carey in The Cable Guy and Adam Sandler as the son of Satan in Little Nicky), Top 5 Hilarious Indian Action, Bad Bond moments, Mortifying Deaths and Gary Oldman acting on his knees in Tiptoes, a film about dwarves as just one example of what was once acceptable now being wholly unacceptable. Finally it all comes down to one and David divulges his Most Awfully Good Movie. Thursday 5th May at 10.00pm on Channel 4.
10/04/2011 - David Walliams: Awfully Good Ads David Walliams celebrates the most staggeringly, compellingly awful adverts ever to grace television, as he counts down to reveal his most 'Awfully Good' advertising moment. 'Sometimes ads are beautiful, witty, sexy, cool, but some ads are just plain crap!' and this show celebrates the very best of the very worst before revealing David Walliams' most Awfully Good ad. Dressed in various guises David presents the most staggeringly, compellingly awful adverts ever to grace television. From a library of advertising lows, these commercials fall into an array of aptly-named categories including 'Ad's You'd Never Get Away with Today' from an era when sexism seemed perfectly acceptable ('be a good little Maxwell House wife'), to 'Fragrance Ads That Stink', 'Sports Stars Who Should Have Stuck to Their Day Job' and 'Pro Smoking Ads' ('what cigarette do you smoke Doctor?'). From 'Top 10 Unmiraculous Products', including the Euro Club - a handy, hollow club for when you're caught short on the golf course - to 'Most Pitiful Acting in an Ad', and public information films that reflect the dated attitudes of the 50s, 60s and 70s, there is a whole lot of hilarity in this two-hour special. Join David Walliams on Channel 4 this Friday 15th April from 10.00pm
09/04/2011 - Walliams wants to land role in James Bond movie David Walliams wants to be Bond’s golden guy! The Little Britain star has just finished filming his guest appearance on BBC’s Doctor Who and now admits that he wants to land a role in a James Bond movie. The actor, who will be appearing in a Series 6 episode of Doctor Who as a cowardly alien apparently called Gibbous, told The Sun’s Buzz magazine: “I’ve just filmed Doctor Who, so all I need now is to be in a James Bond film and I could really die happy. I told 007 producer Barbara Broccoli that I should be a male Moneypenny who has a gay crush on Daniel Craig’s James Bond. It would be very much the relationship Bond used to have with Moneypenny, but with a gay twist. She laughed, but not in a good way – she was really saying: ‘That’s NEVER going to happen!”
08/04/2011 - Dave's Comedy Map We [littlebritainfans.com] have been working very closely with the makers of Sky channel Dave to help produce a brand new project for the online community; a comedy map of Britain and Ireland, which pin-points specific locations used in filming comedy shows and scenes plus locations of some of the greatest fictional characters' hometowns. "Dave's One Night Stand has got us thinking. If there's one thing that Britain really is great at, it's comedy. So, with enormous pleasure, flourish and fanfare, Welcome to Dave's comedy map of Britain & Ireland." The pin-points will give brief information about the comedy with the occasional video clip along with links to related websites. As an example, check out the hometown of Little Britain's Daffyd Thomas here. |
