Tracey Ullman has topped a list of the wealthiest
British comedians. The comic, who turns 47 today, is worth an estimated
£75million from her work in the US. Some of her wealth comes from royalties from
The Simpsons, which started life as an insert on her American show.
David Walliams and Matt Lucas are both worth £6.7million each.

Peter has plenty to Laugh about
Peter Kay's cameo appearance on the "Little
Britain" TV Christmas special tonight crowns a fabulous year which has left the
local comedian with plenty to laugh about. In a hilarious one-off, Kay -
sporting a thinning comb-over and outdated cowboy wardrobe plays sleazy Les, the
lookalike brother of David Walliams' single loser Dudley.
Dudley and his disappointing mail-order Thai bride, Ting Tong Macadangdang (Matt
Lucas), go on honeymoon with Les and his new Russian wife, Evanka (Julia Davis)
when for the "women" it is loathe at first sight.

28/12/2006 - Vicar of Dibley gets most Viewers
For many of us, the most idyllic place to spend
Christmas would be a peaceful English village, tiny, picturesque, with a fine
church at its heart and a cast of quirky characters, from the squire of the
manor down to the resident idiot, to welcome us into its midst.
And so it was this year, that more than 11.4 million viewers visited that
national treasure of a village, Dibley, as The Vicar of Dibley emerged as the
nation's most watched programme on Christmas Day.
While the 2006 Yuletide television line-up certainly won't go down in television
history as one of the most memorable, this was no mean achievement,
overshadowing the demise of the long-serving, long-suffering Pauline Fowler in
EastEnders by many hundreds of thousands of viewers, and knocking presumed
front-runners such as Doctor Who, with a comparatively miserable 8.7 million
viewers, into a cocked party hat (despite the draw of big name guest stars such
as Catherine Tate). Even, the multi-award winning Little Britain, which for this
episode went Abroad, managed just 8.4 million.

Hurdler Turner snubs BBC awards show in favour
of 'Little Britain'
Athletics star Andy Turner snubbed the gala
presentation night of BBC TV's 'Sports Personality Of The Year' show – and opted
for a live performance of comedy show 'Little Britain' instead!
Turner, who now lives in Surrey, decided not to attend because he had tickets to
watch David Walliams and Matt Lucas from the hit TV programme at the Hammersmith
Apollo in London the next day. It would also have been too expensive to pay for
transport and hotels.

27/12/2006 - Big Fat Quiz of the Year
Just been watching "Big Fat Quiz of the Year" on
Channel 4 (9pm) and very much enjoyed it. Jimmy Carr was joined by celebrities.
The teams were: David Walliams with Rob Brydon (37 points),
Jonathan Ross with Cat Deeley (38 points) and Russell Brand with Noel Fielding
(39 points) for the seasonal entertainment extravaganza, taking a not-too-serious
look at the past 12 months. Topics discussed included: which MP did the best cat
impersonation on national TV, why did an Eighties pop icon turn street sweeper
for a day, and whose cheeky Portuguese wink outraged the nation?
If you missed the show, you can catch it again on December 29th on E4 at
10.55pm.
25/12/2006 - Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas from Little Britain Fans.com, hope
you all got what you wanted from Santa this year and you are all stuffed with turkey!
I have just finished watching the first part of Little Britain Abroad!
(The part one of two Vicar of Dibley was also a cracker!) Unfortunatly we have to wait for five days for the second part
of Little Britain but if it's just
as good as it was tonight, it will be very good! Don't forget (I don't think you will), part two
will be shown on December 30th at 9.15pm. For more information, visit the
Christmas Special page.
23/12/2006 - Surfs Up

official surf chick! Thanks Simon for this!

In completely other news, I went along to a
stand-up comedy last night starring Noel Fielding from the well known comedy,
The Mighty Boosh plus three other great comedians. Noel Fielding will be
appearing along with David Walliams, Jonathan Ross, Rob Brydon, Cat Deeley and
Russell Brand in "Big Fat Quiz of the Year" to be shown on Channel 4, Wednesday
27th at 9pm.
22/12/2006 - Sparks fly between Little Britain
star and Boy George
A catfight has
broken out between Little Britain star David Walliams and Boy George.
Sparks flew when the former Culture Club singer asked Walliams about his comedy
partner Matt Lucas’s nuptials.
Boy George, 45, a special guest on Channel 4’s The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year,
asked Walliams: “How was Matt’s wedding?”
Stony-faced Walliams, 35, replied: “Very nice thank you. It was great you
weren’t there.”
Russell Brand, 31, who was also on the show, told the audience: “There’s a bad
atmosphere here now and I want to go home.”
Walliams defended his actions following the recording, saying: “There’s a
background to this. I wouldn’t be mean for the sake of it.”
Brand explained later: “Apparently Boy George thinks that Matt Lucas isn’t a
good example of homosexuality.”
The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year is hosted by Jimmy Carr and also features Rob
Brydon, Cat Deeley and Jonathan Ross.
It is broadcast next Wednesday at 9pm on Channel 4.

21/12/2006 - Walliams keeps royal
appointment
Little Britain star David Walliams has met
the Queen at Buckingham Palace at a reception for top British achievers.
Actress Thandie Newton, artist Antony Gormley and equestrian Zara Phillips -
voted the BBC's sports personality of the year - were also present. Walliams
joked that his royal host said Little Britain was her favourite show.
"No she didn't," he added. "But she acknowledged it." Walliams said they
also discussed his recent charity swim across the English Channel.
"She said: 'Were you covered in lard?' I said: 'Yes, but it's not as much
fun as it looks' and she laughed."

18/12/2006 - Matt 'weds' his Prince Charming
With wigs and war-paint in abundance, the
unconvincing "laydee" Emily would have failed to get a look-in yesterday when
Little Britain star Matt Lucas celebrated his "marriage" to his long-term lover
yesterday.
Neil Tennant, of the Pet Shop Boys, Paul O'Grady, the television presenter and
Paul McKenna, the hypnotist, were just three of the many other pirate captains
to come to the panto themed party.
Graham Norton, the television personality, was a convincing Buttons, as was
Louis Walsh, the pop producer and Stephen Gately, the former Boyzone singer. The
pop singer Will Young was a less convincing Ugly Sister, while comedian Rob
Brydon opted for Peter Pan.

Cash registers ring as Little Britain strikes
the right cultural note
Somehow, the only gay in the village has got under
our skins. Not into our pants, mind you, because that would rock poor Daffyd's
identity to the core.
But comedy show Little Britain and its assortment of culturally specific
characters — from the PVC-clad Daffyd to Lou and his supposedly wheelchair-bound
charge Andy — have traversed the boundaries of geography and taste. DVD sales of
the television show are in their tens of thousands in Australia and last year
series two was the bestselling DVD for the ABC.

17/12/2006 - Little Britain star ties knot with
partner
Little Britain star Matt Lucas has "married" his
long-term partner Kevin McGee today in a civil partnership ceremony at private
members' club Home House in central London.
His "Little Britain" co-star David Walliams, television presenter Dale Winton, comic Rob Brydon
and Sir Elton John with his partner David Furnish, who went as Captain Hook and
Prince Charming were among the celebrity guests at the ceremony which was
followed by a pantomime-themed reception.
The ceremony was kept fairly formal, with male guests wearing suits. But the
reception (held at the Banqueting House in Whitehall) is expected to be an altogether more outrageous affair as guests have
been invited to dress in pantomime costumes.
Lucas said: "I just like dressing up. I'm quite a preppy, dull dresser in my
life so it is a chance for me to be a bit more outrageous."
The 32-year-old has been with TV producer McGee for three years.
Media organisations were last week written to by solicitors Mishcon de Reya (who
also represent Sir Paul McCartney's estranged wife Heather Mills) informing them
that photography and film footage from within the venue is prohibited. It asked
companies including all British news broadcasters not to not broadcast video
taken from inside.
The pair did however pose for photographers outside the ceremony venue.

Scott and Walliams split
There's no doubting she's a lovely "ladeeee" but
Emily Scott's Australian holiday has sent her Little Britain star boyfriend
packing.
Scott and David Walliams had been dating since August but the camp-acting
comedian drifted away from Scott after she flew home to be with her family over
the summer.
The lads mag favourite had planned to return to London for Christmas but the
couple's spark fizzled out in interim, with Walliams' publicist confirming at
the weekend they are no longer an item.

The stars of Little Britain
have commited to stay at the BBC for the forseeable future.

winning the Best Stage Comedy award at this year's British Comedy Awards.
"We're BBC, us," replied Lucas when asked if a move to ITV was on the cards. "We
have always been at the BBC and love working there.
"Creatively they let us do what we want and we are very happy. We hope we'll
have a long career there." Continuing, the star joked: "That said, 30 more
pence..."

Matt Lucas has revealed his personal comedy
favourites of 2006 - naming Peep Show as his favourite thing on television.
The Little Britain star, speaking after the British Comedy Awards, gave his
approval to the Best TV Comedy Winner.
"I just love it," he commented. "And I'm really, really pleased it's starting to
get the recognition it deserves." The Channel 4 show beat off competition from
Ricky Gervais's Extras and political comedy The Thick of It to take the title.
Lucas, whose own show won Best Stage Comedy, also paid tribute to other prize
winners. "I really enjoyed The Catherine Tate Show - I'm glad she won an award,"
he said of the Best TV Comedy Actress.

13/12/2006 - Lucas to get married on Sunday
Matt Lucas has quashed rumours of a rift with his
Little Britain co-star David Walliams. But he admits his telly partner will not
be best man at his wedding on Sunday.
Speaking for the first time about tying the knot with long-term partner Kevin
McGee, Matt says: “My two best men are two of my oldest college friends, but
David will be there.”
There were reports last month that after spending more than a year on the road
with their Little Britain Live tour, the pair had been clashing and were on the
brink of splitting up.
But Matt insists: “I’m very happy to continue to work with him. We’re not
frustrated with each other. There’s no truth in that story. I love working with
him. I have the dream job.”
All 500 guests at the civil ceremony at the Royal Court Theatre in posh Chelsea,
West London, will dress as panto characters. Matt, 32, explains: “I just like
dressing up."
He and Kevin met at a London nightspot three years ago. In the summer they
bought a £1.5million house together in swanky St John’s Wood, north-west London.

Walliams to appear in Hotel Babylon
David Walliams is to star in one of the 19
programmes of Hotel Babylon which starts in January 2007. This was announced
during the Channel 4 Paul O'Grady Show by Tamzin Outhwaite.
Lucas turns down 'Robin Hood' role
Matt Lucas has cast serious doubts upon the
prospect of his portraying Friar Tuck in BBC series Robin Hood, explaining
that his busy schedule would not allow such a commitment.
Last week it was rumoured that Lucas would join the Saturday night drama as
the portly man of the cloth, after BBC One channel controller Peter Fincham
said he "would be very happy" if he filled the role. He added that the
Little Britain comedian had also been unofficially enthusiastic about the
idea.
However, The Stage reports that Lucas has said that he will not be able to
take the part next year, in what already promises to be a hectic twelve
months. 2007 will see Lucas and comedy partner David Walliams take their
Little Britain stage show to Australia, as well as work on a US version of
the programme.

10/12/2006 - Viewers force BBC to honour
Walliams
The BBC has bowed to public
pressure and will tonight honour David Walliams, the Little Britain comedy
actor, for swimming the Channel, at its sports personality of the year awards.
All week the corporation has been receiving complaints from viewers about the
absence from the 10-strong shortlist of Walliams, 35, who made the crossing in a
remarkable 10 hours.
In a year of sporting disappointment, some have alleged that the BBC has rigged
the voting process to avoid a potentially embarrassing victory for the actor
known for his transvestite sketches and catchphrase “I’m a laydee”.

Lucas at 8pm on BBC1 for his achievement in the 10 hours and 30 minute Channel
swim. The presenters of tonight's award ceremony were Sur Barker and Gary Linker

09/12/2006 - Richard & Judy's Christmas Book
Special
Matt and David appeared on this Channel 4
special at 6.45pm along with Billy Piper, Rupert Everett, Gordon Ramsay and
Michael Palin. Plus, special contributions from Ricky Gervais, Trinny & Susannah
and Jamie Oliver.
The show featured the best buys this year in the categories of Food & Drink,
Children’s, Stocking Fillers and Coffee Table, as well as discussing five great
celebrity books.
"The nation’s favourite comedy duo has been touring the country this year with
their sell-out Little Britain Live show. Matt Lucas and David Walliams are more
successful than they ever could have imagined, and now, together with journalist
and friend Boyd Hilton, they have written their autobiography, Inside Little
Britain."
Matt and David joined Richard & Judy in the studio to talk about their book, and
their massive success with Little Britain.
Taken from the show:
Richard: How long do you think Little Britain
will run for?
David: 200 years.
Richard: Do you have a view where your having a great time, the tours going
well, maybe we'll do another series and then we'll walk away and do something
else or is it an open ended thing?
Matt: We don't know, what we want to carry on doing is working together and
doing stuff with the Little Britain characters, whether its still in Little
Britain or not we don't know because there might be a Lou and Andy sitcom one
day but it may be that we go off and do something else and then come back in
three or four years and knock on BBCs door and say can we have another series of
Little Britain so we're not sure.
Matt and David were surprised when Richard and
Judy had a chat with their mums from their homes during the show.
08/12/2006 - Hot Toady
Star Matt admits to feeling the heat when
filming Wind In The Willows. Matt Lucas got so hot under the collar as Toad in BBC1's New Year's Day
special, The Wind In The Willows, that he spend lunchtimes resting in his pants.
"I wore 14 heavy costumes, which was tiring, so I often had a sleep in my
underpants, rather than eating," says the roly-poly actor.
He filmed the children's classic in Bucharest, Romania, during the summer and
recalls: "I'd be running around in tweed in boiling heat. I had to wear a "cool
suit" under my costumes, which would pump ice water over my skin to stop my
make-up melting."
Matt spent an hour in make-up every day, while prosthetics were painstakingly
applied, including dozens of tiny scales to his head and body.
"Mind you, it's not as bad as playing Bubbles De Vere on Little Britain - it
takes six hours to become her. It's mostly fine. When it isn't, I whinge inside
my head."

07/12/2006 - Lucas wanted for Friar Tuck role
Friar Tuck is getting a reprieve after he was
snubbed in the first series of Robin Hood - and the BBC wants Matt Lucas in the
role.
According to popular legend Robin Hood lived in Sherwood Forest with his
companions Friar Tuck, Will Scarlet, Little John, Allan-A-Dale and Maid Marian.
But Hood's rotund sidekick Tuck, an old favourite, was dispensed with from the
first BBC comeback series on the grounds that he was viewed as a "laughing
stock".
BBC1 Controller Peter Fincham said he wanted Little Britain star Lucas to play
the role, but that he had not been approached formally.
He said: "The series wants to evolve and he is a great character.
"If Matt Lucas said he'd play him I would be very happy. I did mention it to
Matt and he said he would love to do that."

27/11/2006 - Stars Go Nuts for Little Britain
Held in aid of Comic Relief, stars such as Russell
Brand, Kate Moss, Peter Kay and Jonathan Ross joined Matt Lucas and David
Walliams on stage to make last Thursday's event at London's Hammersmith Apollo a
truly special laugh-in.
Aside from the help of comedy heavyweights, arguably the highlight was Holby
City star Jeremy Edwards accidentally exposing himself on stage.
The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant Edwards was pulled out of the
audience by Walliams’s perverted ex-children’s entertainer Des Kaye.
Also joining him on stage was the equally unsuspecting victim David Baddiel. The
pair were then forced to play a game called "hunt the sausage" during which time
Walliam's character started fiddling with Edwards.
It was then that Walliams pulled down both Edwards' trousers and his pants,
exposing 'little Jeremy' to over 3,000 astonished audience members!

24/11/2006 - Little Britain to return
The Little Britain tour is such a storming success
that at their Apollo dates at the end of last year, there were no fewer than 21
different types of tie-in T-shirt - most sporting the catchphrases from their
characters Daffyd (the only gay in the village), Vicky Pollard, Lou and Andy and
Emily and Florence - on sale.
Tickets for their shows have flown out so quickly, that even a date at the M.E.N.
Arena failed to satisfy their fans, so they'll return for more dates in the city
on November 25 and 26.
It's all a long way from the hand-to-mouth days when Matt Lucas and comedy
partner David Walliams would spend their university holidays taking their
characters up to the Edinburgh Fringe in successive years.
"For me, the fun is in dressing up and being someone else," Lucas says of the
outrageous characters he portrayed on TV and now live.

segments and in-studio scenes, the series simulates a documentary about British
people, and presents a rather odd assortment of characters, all of whom are
played by Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

teenager Vicky Pollard for Little Britain's Big Night performance on 22

socially for a little while and she and Pete came to our show one night and
liked it.
"So we thought, let's be cheeky and see if we can convince her and she was up
for it. The thing about Kate is that she's funny in her own right so we think
it'll be brilliant." He confirmed: "It'll be a speaking role but I don't want to
give too much away. When you see her and what she'll be wearing and doing it'll
be a big surprise."

Walliams to star in new BBC film
David Walliams is starring in a new BBC film by
writer and director Stephen Poliakoff. He features alongside Maggie Smith and
Jane Eyre actress Ruth Wilson in Capturing Mary, which will also be shown in the
United States. The TV funnyman, 35, plays a “subtly evil man” who feigns
friendship but brings about destruction instead. Smith, 71, plays Mary, a
once-brilliant writer and critic who is reflecting on her younger self and is
haunted by the memory of Walliams’ character Greville.
The BBC2 film will be shown beside another interlinked Poliakoff title for BBC1,
which has the working title Poliakoff 2006 and stars Michael Gambon. Both dramas
are being shot in central London later this year and are set in the same grand,
empty house frozen in time.
Since shooting to huge success with Little Britain, Walliams’ other film credits
have included A Cock And Bull Story and Virgin Territory, featuring Hayden
Christensen and Mischa Barton, which is currently in production.

Lucas, who plays Daffyd 'the only gay in the village' in Little Britain, is not

'I don't know what I'll be doing yet. There was some possible suggestion that I

"We have a Christmas special though.
"I hope if they want to do it they ask me. I love doing the show. They are great

10/10/2006 - Matt Lucas' wedding to have panto
theme
We know how much Little
Britain's Matt Lucas likes dressing up... but his wedding day will make even
their most outrageous characters like Emily and Florence look positively dowdy.
The comic genius and his boyfriend Kevin McGee are planning a Christmas
panto-style extravaganza for their civil partnership ceremony this December.
They plan to walk down the aisle in fancy dress in a sumptuous, no-expense
spared ceremony celebrating the "best of British pantomime".
Oh no, they're not? Oh yes, they are! Although the final costumes have yet to be
decided they are said to be looking at a number of different outfits - including
Captain Hook, Mother Goose and Aladdin.
Two swanky London venues have provisionally been booked for the do - Banqueting
House in Whitehall and the Institute of Directors, Pall Mall.
Although the exact date hasn't been confirmed, the bash is expected to be held
in mid-December at the end of Matt and David's brilliant Little Britain Live
tour.
The source told the paper that whatever the venue, the couple plan to kit it out
in a theatre style for guests including Sir Elton John and actor Anthony Head.

08/10/2006 - Little Britain: The biggest
British live comedy show of all time (£25m and counting)
Their year-long nationwide tour is ending with a
six-week finale in London.
Welcome to Little Britain Live, now at the Apollo, Hammersmith in west London,
and officially confirmed as the longest-running UK comedy tour ever staged,
playing to more than a million people in theatres and arenas and generating
upwards of £25m.
Since it began life as a Radio 4 show only five years ago, it has transferred to
BBC3, BBC2 and finally BBC1 where, in the space of three series, it has
ballooned into one of the corporation's biggest audience bankers.
In the summer, the duo signed a £6m deal to tie themselves to the BBC for a
further three years, with plans to adapt the series for the US through the HBO
network, home to The Sopranos, Sex and the City and Six Feet Under.
By the end of this tour in December, Walliams and Lucas will have sold out over
200 live shows. When the tickets went on sale last year they shifted more than
200,000 in a single day.
Each of the three series has topped the DVD sales charts, the first selling more
than 1.8m to become the biggest selling release of a TV series. Still to come
there is a Little Britain interactive DVD quiz and in November 06, the DVD of
the live show will be released.

06/10/2006 - Little Britain Live Review
A year after Matt Lucas and David Walliams began
this mammoth tour, they’ve finally given their nation-conquering grotesques a
five-week lap of honour in London. The technical glitches that came with that
first night in Portsmouth in October 2005 — and the endearing ad libs that
inspired — are long gone. What’s left is a perfectly performed, competently
scripted spin-off that sparkles like a West End musical.

The show must go on - Little
Britain stars plan world domination
The Little Britain duo say the buzz of going on stage prevents them from getting
tired when they are on the road.
Their live show came to London - at the Hammersmith Apollo - after touring the
country and the creators have plans for further world domination.
David Walliams said: "We'll have played to about a million people and done 200
shows by the time we've finished here in London and then next year we're taking
it to Australia.
"It is tiring but when you hear people's laughter and applause it energises you
and that's a great feeling.
"You may be knackered when you come off but you're not knackered when you're
doing it."

04/10/2006 - Little Britain UK Tour Review
The loudest bursts
of applause at the opening of Little Britain's London season were reserved for
those characters who have made their home in the nooks and crannies of the
nation's funny bone.
As the curtain rose, the eternally put-upon Lou was gazing hopefully into
the audience from a stage empty save for a vacant wheelchair. "Has anyone seen Andy?" he enquired with an optimism not quite extinguished
by long experience. "He's in your trousers!" shouted a wag, prompting David
Walliams to preen at the presumed compliment to his manhood. Then Andy appeared. Flying through the air on a wire, trailing smoke. "He's
behind you!" came the predictable response, and we were suddenly and sadly
plunged back into the iron parameters of a well-established routine.

James Joyce and Brendan Behan put Bewley's

live show at The Point Theatre the night before - gig number 143 of a nine-month
tour, which reaches London next week.

21/09/2006 - Little Britain stars visit town
centre
Hundreds of Little Britain fans turned up to see
their comic heroes in the flesh as David Walliams and Matt Lucas visited
Festival Place on Friday, September 15.
"I want that one" could be heard as copies of their new book Inside Little
Britain - written together with Heat magazine editor Boyd Hilton - were flying
off the shelves in Ottakar's bookshop.
The pair's appearance was one of the most prolific book-signing events
Basingstoke has ever witnessed, attracting a huge crowd of excited fans.
People of all ages started queuing up in Porchester Square from 4pm to have
their books signed by the stars, who shot to fame with the hit BBC show that
first hit the screens in September 2003.
Most of the indoor square had been cordoned off to accommodate the crowds, and
security guards were in place in case things got out of hand.
But despite being one of the most eagerly-awaited book-signings of the year, the
event went off without incident. More than a couple of hundred people queued up,
and around a hundred more were waiting to get a glimpse of the stars.

He said: ‘Ever since I saw The Spy Who Loved Me at the age of six, I have been

'Unfortunately I have never been asked to play James Bond, but I have been asked
to present this new documentary. I promise not to camp it up. Too much.’

10/09/2006 - Parky is back!
Chat show host Parkinson is back
and the first episode of Parky's new series will feature interviews
with Elton John as well as Matt Lucas and David Walliams on Saturday
16th September, ITV at 10pm.
Little Britain’s Matt Lucas is
getting married — to his gay lover.
TV researcher Kevin McGee, 30, has agreed to tie the knot after the
funnyman secretly popped the question in May.
Yesterday Matt, 32 — whose catchphrase as fake cripple Andy is “I
want that one” — was making plans for their civil partnership
ceremony.
The Sun has mocked up how the pair might look
here, — if Matt went along as his telly character.
The wedding was revealed as a new book about the hit BBC comedy show
confirmed: “Matt and Kevin feel destined to be together.
Matt tells in Inside Little Britain how his mum Diana was “shocked
and surprised” after he confessed he was gay.
But she now thinks Kevin — who Matt met at a nightclub four years
ago — is a “lovely boy”.
Matt told The Sun: “I may not be able to give her babies but I can
give her BAFTAs.”
Last year he and Kevin swapped matching silver rings. They recently
moved out of their North West London flat to set up home together in
a £1million pad in the capital’s swanky St John’s Wood.
Meanwhile, as Lucas looks to the future in his private life, he is
also set for further professional success across the Atlantic,
according to reports.
American cable channel HBO is said to be planning to adapt Little
Britain for the US market, with Lucas and Walliams reportedly
planning to create the American equivalents of much-loved characters
such as troublesome schoolgirl Vicky Pollard.

Thrilled David, 35, told of his joy at working with Ronnie in the
special — titled Little Britain Abroad. He said: “It’s been so

“This morning we were rehearsing with Ronnie and you think, ‘Oh my

take the hit British comedy to America. US broadcaster HBO has
snapped up the rights to the show, which pokes fun at quintessential
England. It will be adapted to satirise urban America, with both
stars working closely with US writers. Fuller tells Broadcast
magazine, "We are on the brink of confirming something rather
special. Think back to Monty Python. Who would have thought that
would have been such a big hit in America?" The show already has a
cult following on the BBC America cable channel.
Lucas and Walliams will be free to
work on the American version after concluding Little Britain with a
BBC Christmas special. The British shows are shown in 13 countries
and have already won a cult audience on the BBC America cable
channel. Spin-off opportunities from a hit US version will be
considerable. The pair will have earned an estimated £20 million
over four years after the conclusion of a 140-date nationwide tour
